Installation tips

• Follow the Knauf installation instructions for ceiling batts. Earthwool® Ceiling Installation Guide
• Install from above (in the roof space) or from below (within the room), whichever suits your access.
• Let the batts expand to their full thickness, and never compress them. Squashing them lowers the R-value.
• Keep batts clear of downlights, flues and exhaust fans unless they’re rated for insulation contact.
• Use a kneeling board across the joists when working in the roof space.
• Wear gloves, long sleeves and a dust mask when cutting.
• Check the NCC requirements for your climate zone.

FAQ

What does R3.5 mean? It’s the thermal resistance rating. A higher R-value means better insulation.
How many packs do I need? Divide your ceiling area by the m² per pack, then add around 5–10% for offcuts.
Can I put it over existing insulation? Often yes, as long as the existing insulation is dry and in good condition. Check your climate zone’s recommended total R-value.
Can I use it in a wall? No. Use wall batts.
