The foil facing on a roof insulation blanket only works properly if it stays continuous. This reinforced foil tape is made for joining the foil laps, sealing cut edges and repairing small tears, so the foil does its job of helping control condensation under a metal roof.

How much do I need?

Each join needs a run of tape about as long as the join itself. For example, joining two 15m blanket rolls side by side takes about 15m of tape. Count the number of joins across your roof, multiply by the roll length, and add around 10% for repairs and overlaps.

Installation tips

• Follow the blanket manufacturer’s installation instructions first, since they decide where tape is needed.
• Apply the tape to clean, dry foil, free of dust and moisture.
• Press it down firmly along its full length, working out any air pockets.
• Apply it in dry conditions and within the temperature range on the roll label.
• Don’t leave gaps in the taped line, since gaps defeat the purpose of the seal.
