Earthwool® R4.0 Ceiling Insulation Batts (195mm)

A well-insulated ceiling does more for comfort and energy bills than almost any other upgrade. Earthwool R4.0 batts add a step up in performance over R3.5, which is useful if you’re in a cooler climate zone or want extra margin above the minimum requirement.

R3.5 or R4.0?

• R3.5 (175mm): a good fit for milder climate zones and a lower cost per pack. Earthwool® R3.5 Ceiling Insulation Batts
• R4.0 (195mm): extra thermal performance for cooler zones, or if you want to go above the minimum. Check the NCC requirement for your climate zone and the depth of your roof space.

Installation tips

• Follow the Knauf installation instructions for ceiling batts. Earthwool® Ceiling Installation Guide
• Install from above (in the roof space) or from below, whichever suits your access.
• Let the batts expand to full thickness, and never compress them.
• Keep batts clear of downlights, flues and exhaust fans unless they’re rated for insulation contact.
• Use a kneeling board across the joists when working in the roof space.
• Wear gloves, long sleeves and a dust mask when cutting.

Where it’s not for

FAQ

What’s the difference between R3.5 and R4.0? R4.0 is 195mm thick and has higher thermal resistance than R3.5, which is 175mm.
How many packs do I need? Divide your ceiling area by the m² per pack and add 5–10% for offcuts.
Will it fit my roof space? Check the depth between ceiling and roof so the batts can sit at full thickness.
Can I use it in a wall? No. Use wall batts.
Can I collect in store? Yes, click-and-collect is available at checkout.
