Which R-value should I choose?

• R5.0 (210mm): higher performance for cold climates or deeper roof spaces.
• Check the NCC requirement for your climate zone, and measure the space between ceiling and roof so the batts can sit at full thickness.

Installation tips

• Follow the Knauf installation instructions for ceiling batts. Earthwool® Ceiling Installation Guide
• Install from above (in the roof space) or from below, whichever suits your access.
• Let the batts expand to full thickness, and never compress them.
• Keep batts clear of downlights, flues and exhaust fans unless they’re rated for insulation contact.
• Use a kneeling board across the joists when working in the roof space.
• Wear gloves, long sleeves and a dust mask when cutting.

Is R5.0 worth it over R4.0? In cooler climates or where you want to exceed the minimum, yes, because the extra thickness reduces heat loss further.
How many packs do I need? Divide your ceiling area by the m² per pack and add 5–10% for offcuts.
Will it fit my roof space? Check there’s at least 210mm of clear depth above the ceiling.
Can I use it in a wall? No. Use wall batts.
