Sancell Air 104 + LAP Reflective Foil Insulation (1350mm x 22.25m)

Radiant heat is the main way a roof loads up your home in summer. Sancell Air 104 + LAP tackles it with a reflective foil face that bounces back up to 97% of radiant heat, on a tough bubble core that also acts as a vapour barrier. The 150mm lap along one edge means joins are quicker and tidier, and you get more usable coverage out of every roll.

Key benefits

  • Reflects up to 97% of radiant heat
  • Built-in 150mm lap for faster installs and less waste
  • Extra heavy duty, with a polyethylene weave for strength
  • Class 2 vapour barrier and water barrier
  • Anti-glare coating on the outer face for safer handling outdoors
  • Low flammability (index of 5 or less)
  • Fibre free, non-itchy and formaldehyde free
  • Australian made

Size and coverage

  • 1350mm wide x 22.25m long
  • 30 m² per roll
  • 4mm nominal thickness

What is it made of?

Aluminium foil over a triple-layer polyethylene bubble core, with two layers of high-density polyethylene weave for strength. The bubble core contains up to 20% recycled material.

Where to use it

  • Under metal and tiled roofs as reflective sarking
  • Behind wall cladding and in wall systems
  • Sheds, garages and workshops

Reflective foil or bulk insulation?

Reflective foil is very effective at blocking radiant heat, which makes it popular in hot climates and under metal roofs. It works best with a reflective air space next to the foil, and it’s often combined with bulk insulation for year-round thermal performance. Use our Earthwool® Therma Blanket range when you also want bulk R-value. Check the NCC requirement for your climate zone.

Standard or + LAP?

Air 104 is also sold without a lap. The + LAP version has a 150mm lap along one edge so rolls overlap neatly, so you can use the whole width of the roll.

Installation tips

  • Follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions and the relevant standards for your application.
  • Overlap the 150mm lap neatly, and seal joins with reinforced foil tape where the instructions call for it.
  • Keep the foil intact, and repair any tears.
  • Keep a clear air gap against the reflective surface where the system relies on it.
  • The foil conducts electricity, so keep it at least 50mm clear of light fittings and hot flues, and use plastic fixings near wiring.
  • Wear UV-protective sunglasses when installing outdoors in bright sun.

Don’t forget the tape

Use our Forza Reinforced Aluminium Foil Tape to keep the foil facing continuous at joins, cut edges and small tears.

FAQ

What does the + LAP mean? It’s a 150mm overlap along one edge of the roll, so joins are quicker and there’s less waste.
Is it a vapour barrier? Yes, it’s rated as a Class 2 vapour barrier.
Is it safe to handle? It’s non-itchy, fibre free and classed as non-hazardous. The foil conducts electricity, so keep it away from live wiring.
How much does one roll cover? About 30 m² (for the standard roll), before allowing for laps and offcuts.
Does it replace batts? Not necessarily. It’s a radiant heat barrier, and it’s often used alongside bulk insulation for the best result.
Can I collect in store? Yes, click-and-collect is available at checkout.
