Earthwool® R6.0 Ceiling Insulation Batts (275mm)

R6.0 is where ceiling insulation starts to make a serious difference in cold climates. At 275mm thick, these batts hold back far more heat loss than R3.5 to R5.0, so your home stays warmer in winter and cooler in summer, and your heating and cooling work less.

Check your roof space first

At 275mm, R6.0 needs clear depth above the ceiling so the batts can sit at full thickness. If the space is tight, a lower R-value or a thinner product may fit better. Never squash the batts to make them fit, because compression reduces the R-value.

Installation tips

• Follow the Knauf installation instructions for ceiling batts. Earthwool® Ceiling Installation Guide
• Install from above (in the roof space) or from below, whichever suits your access.
• Let the batts expand to full thickness, and never compress them.
• Keep batts clear of downlights, flues and exhaust fans unless they’re rated for insulation contact.
• Use a kneeling board across the joists when working in the roof space.
• Wear gloves, long sleeves and a dust mask when cutting.

FAQ

Is R6.0 too much for my home? In cold climates it’s often worthwhile. In milder zones the extra cost may not pay back, so check your zone’s requirement.
Will it fit my roof space? You need at least 275mm of clear depth above the ceiling.
How many packs do I need? Divide your ceiling area by the m² per pack and add 5–10% for offcuts.
Can I use it in a wall? No. Use wall batts.
