Earthwool® R7.0 Ceiling Insulation Batts (330mm)

For homes in cold regions, or anyone building well beyond the minimum, R7.0 is serious ceiling insulation. At 330mm thick, these batts cut heat loss a long way below R5.0 and R6.0, which means steadier indoor temperatures and lower heating and cooling bills year-round.

Check your roof space first

At 330mm, R7.0 needs plenty of clear depth above the ceiling. Measure the space before you buy. Never squash the batts to make them fit, because compression reduces the R-value. If the space is shallow, a lower R-value may be the better fit.

Installation tips

• Install from above (in the roof space) or from below, whichever suits your access.
• Let the batts expand to full thickness, and never compress them.
• Keep batts clear of downlights, flues and exhaust fans unless they’re rated for insulation contact.
• Use a kneeling board across the joists when working in the roof space.
• Wear gloves, long sleeves and a dust mask when cutting.

FAQ

Is R7.0 overkill? In cold climates or high-performance homes it often isn’t. In milder zones the extra cost may not pay back, so check your zone’s requirement.
Why are the widths different? The R7.0 batts are 460mm and 620mm wide. Measure your joist gap and pick the width that fits snugly.
Will it fit my roof space? You need at least 330mm of clear depth above the ceiling.
How many packs do I need? Divide your ceiling area by the m² per pack and add 5–10% for offcuts.
Can I use it in a wall? No. Use wall batts.
